A TENDER FAREWELL
The petals bow in sorrow
As the bluebonnets feel the weight
Of the droplets that the sadness brings
From the rain that won’t abate
The lightning flashes and the thunder roars
The trees nod with the blow
The birds won’t sing and the crickets are still
What is this that they know?
It’s farewell to the Bellas!
They’ll be traveling many miles
That means that we’ll be missing
Una’s magic smiles
And Gabbi’s angelic visage
Luigi’s know-how at the grill
Angelo’s blessed demeanor of calm
Eli’s overwhelming horseradish thrill
The trucker…giggling Liam,
Whose patience was so tried,
And the loving, fatherly discipline
That Leonardo deftly supplied
The skies of Hill Country Texas
Are cloud filled now, indeed
With the sadness of seeing them go
While wishing them…Godspeed!
Come back, soon, Bellas! You’ll be sorely missed!!
